Dr. Brett Agost
Dr. Agost enjoys getting to know his patients while serving the eye care needs of a tight-knit community like the one he grew up in. He was raised in Roseburg Oregon where he was a three-sport athlete in high school. He went on to play basketball at Western Oregon University and graduated with a degree in education. He began a career in teaching and coaching before choosing to follow his father into Optometry. He graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1993 and began practice in his hometown of Roseburg. In 1997, he and his wife Dalene moved to Gresham where he began practice at Gresham Vision Center and Sandy Vision Center with Dr. Caldwell. Dr. Agost enjoys providing quality eye care for his patients in the Gresham and Sandy communities. His scope of practice includes primary eye care ( including treatment and management of ocular disease, such as eye infections, macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetes), as well as refractive services for glasses and contact lenses. Dr. Agost cares for many patients with cataracts and is licensed to perform pre and post operative care for eye surgeries such as cataract surgery and lasik surgery. Dr. Agost is also an active member of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association. When not at work, He enjoys spending time with his wife Dalene and their three children in a busy sports family.
Dr. Nancy Buset
Dr. Nancy joined our practice in 2020 – a lucky year for optometrists – but she has been practicing in the Portland metro area since graduating from optometry school in 2001. She specializes in pediatric optometry and vision therapy, but enjoys working with patients of all ages. Dr. Nancy comes from a family of teachers, and educating her patients about their eyes and vision is her favorite part of her job.
At age 8, Dr. Nancy was already significantly near-sighted, and she remembers the amazement of seeing clearly through her first pair of glasses. In high school and college, Dr. Nancy wore contact lenses. As an adult, she had Lasik surgery to correct her vision. She loves to help her patients explore the pros and cons of all these options, so they can determine which type of correction will best suit their own lifestyle.
Dr. Buset especially enjoys working with students and adults with functional vision problems, such as trouble focusing or aiming their eyes. Vision therapy is like physical therapy for the eyes; it is a powerful tool for resolving many learning-related vision issues, and the results can be very rewarding for both doctor and patient (www.covd.org for more information).
Dr. Nancy attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, where she majored in biology. She obtained her doctor of optometry (O.D.) degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, before moving to Oregon to establish her career.
Dr. McArthur
Dr. McArthur was raised in the rolling green mountains of Elkins, West Virginia (please sing “Take Me Home, Country Roads” to him). He played college soccer at BYU-Hawaii and Waldorf University earning a bachelor’s degree in Biology. Most importantly, he married his wife and best friend at BYU-Hawaii (5 years after becoming her first kiss at a BYU sports camp). He then completed his Doctor of Optometry degree from MCPHS School of Optometry (Worcester, MA) in 2022. Dr. McArthur is also an active member of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association. Dr. McArthur’s scope of practice includes Primary Care, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration and Pre- and Post- operative Cataract care, and contact lenses are his jam. Dr. McArthur is able to speak and understand Spanish due to serving a full-time 2-year LDS mission in Jacksonville, FL. He enjoys traveling and exploring nature with his wife and 6 kids (and counting), 2 dogs (just to add to the chaos), snowboarding, and all things soccer. He would love to learn more about Oregon’s hidden gems from his patients!
